Beginning out with a cold morning, definitely a bit of a worry as dark clouds rolled in, drops of rain out and about and with semi slick tyres I don’t think it would be worth it but let’s see what happens!
A show of around 10 people, 1290 Super Dukes, 790 Dukes, a 1190 Adventure and believe it or not a 390 Adventure!
Immediately getting to grips with the 890 Duke R. Brakes are beyond superb, I think the only way to stop faster is if you hit a tree or a wall! A motor that just wants to rev and rev and rev, torque throughout the rev range too! I can see myself getting into big trouble if I owned one of these! Suspension gives confidence like you will not believe, I definitely felt like I was Brad Binder, well in my imagination! The optional quickshifter bangs through the gears faster than you can say blink.
Cornering through town, heavy traffic as naturally town is. Definitely does not feel bigger than a 390 Duke. Okay, obviously it’s a bigger bike but not in the way it feels which is unbelievable! Robot to robot, and with manageable power it will hurt lots of egos!
Through Camps Bay and Hout Bay, the bike shows off everything it is! Breathtakingly beautiful and striking with orange wheels and frame. A typical Sunday with people running, cycling and getting ready to play with the big fish in the sea on boards. Needless to say, I enjoyed the little run between Camps Bay to Hout Bay just due to sheer confidence the bike gives you.
Now remember the 390 Adventure? Oh wow, that bike can corner! He was chasing a Super Duke and I nearly thought it would be a Moto3 bike passing a MotoGP bike.
Stopping at Dario’s Cafe in Hout Bay for a quick breakfast and hot chocolate, definitely would recommend this spot for anyone who is in Hout Bay and looking for nice grub.
Chapman’s Peak was showing off, as it usually does. Plenty of people out and about. Triumph Rockets are not small bikes either! First time I’ve seen one in person and they are half a tank on two wheels but sound really good which I’ll give.
A calm and relaxing ride back to HQ to watch the Moto3 race was altogether a good end to a good and refreshing day out. The South African boys doing well in Moto3, MotoGP and World Super Sport!

  1. Great first stab at the blogging thing. Onwards and upwards young man. On a lighter note, the brakes on that 890, well lets just park that right there.
